Guglielmo vallecoccia: The London Underground rail network, or "the Tube" is a great way to travel to and from Central London and will be an integral part of most people's stay in the UK capital.
- The network of tunnels extends to 250 miles. For comparison, it’s only 204 miles from Hull to London
- Balham is the only Underground station that doesn’t have any of the letters of the word ‘underground’ in it.
- There are four platforms at High Street Kensington, and a short tunnel section dug further north where the tracks were going to be extended.
- The steepest gradient on the system that a passenger can travel on is between Bromley-by-Bow and Bow Road, where the gradient reaches 1:28 (or 3.51% in new money).
- Around 56% of the London Underground is actually above the ground.
